Founded in 2005 by Jerome Armstrong, Vox Media was originally SportsBlogs, Inc. Jim Bankoff, a former AOL executive, was hired in 2008 to assist in its growth, and SportsBlogs had an increase in visitors of 208 percent. In 2011 Bankoff hired multiple former writers for AOL to build a new technology-oriented website, and SportsBlogs was renamed to Vox Media in November of 2011. Vox Media now runs eight editorial brands: SB Nation, The Verge, Polygon, Curbed, Eater, Racked, Vox, and Recode. Vox Media launched a new website, vox.com, as a general interest news source in April of 2014. Vox is currently led by Ezra Klein, a former columnist for Washington Post.
